Caldicot 2017 Sept 16th and 17th

Post by Alison of Mercia »

Hello everyone

Happy May 1st and if you had an event this weekend hope that it was a good one.The EMA are delighted to be able to confirm that we will once again be holding our event in conjunction with the castle on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of Sept, with set up on Friday 15th.

We are very much hoping that this will be a bigger and better event than the first collaboration last year and are delighted that the castle have invited us back. You all did a brilliant job last year and that has been reflected in their enthusiasm to continue. As last year there will be other groups attending from different periods such as the Vikings and Normans and we are hoping that you can all join us again as well.

The final programme has yet to be sorted but we are keeping our EMA schedule the same as in previous years with a tournament both days, small displays late morning and then the battle later on both days. As last year we will be asking all EMA non-member groups to pay a contribution of £2 per person per day if you want to take part in either the tournament or the battle, we still have to take out our own insurance for this and our membership fees do not cover all of the cost for this.

If any of your groups would like to contribute towards the small displays in the castle arena please let me know. Last year we had dancing and costume displays and there will be an archery group within the castle as well but if you have anything else that you would like to do please let me know.

I have sent out booking forms to those people who came last year but please mail me on if you would like one.

Please feel to let other groups know about this event, we would really like it to be bigger than last year and also please could you promote it through your own groups' social media. We had a good crowd last year and really good weather - got that on order for this year :-) but would love to have more people.

Please contact me if there are any questions. Look forward to seeing some of you at events very soon and all of you at Caldicot in September.

No-one ever said it was going to be easy. Live long, prosper and remember red wine cures most things ;-)
