English lieutenant's woman

Post by Graham Ashford »

Hello all

I'm coming again with my cap in hand for help.

My wife is trying to find patterns for ladies clothing from 1805 or slightly earlier. She will be representing a woman associated with the Navy through marraige with an English lieutenant - a bit of social climbing.

We can find a number of patterns online for clothing from the period but are unsure what to trust especially as some would like money. We've no problem with paying for information and patterns but are uncertain which are trustworthy for the period ... as it's still new to us.

Can anyone help point us in the correct direction?

Just seen this, sorry. Have you asked Izabella at Prior Attire?
http://www.griffinhistorical.com. A delicious decadent historical trifle. Thick performance jelly topped with lashings of imaginative creamy custard. You may also get a soggy event management sponge finger but it won't cost you hundreds and thousands.
