Leather

Possibly a question already answered but can anyone suggest a supplier of thin, fine leathers for a 17th Century Jerkin?

Dog's danglies stuff- one day I shall have more from him than just the baldrick and baccy pouch I already have.

Good supplier- know their stuff and have a tame reenactor on staff for dealing with specific enquiries.

Karl advised me to use goat leather as it is very tough, got mine from Keith Kyons at TORM. Needs a lot of dressing and working to get the leather ready to use for garments

Pity you didn't post a couple of weeks back. The Identity Store had one of their sales on in Matlock Bath that Sunday. I managed to pick up a huge hide of 1.5-2mm pit tanned leather (some colour imperfections) for under £100. They had tawed leathers in at reasonable prices too. It's a bit hit and miss what you get, but often worth a visit, if for no other reason than they're such nice people!

The only problem that I have with buying leather from Le Prevo is that it's a bit far to visit, so you're left with the vagaries of mail order leather. Other than that, I've a great deal of respect for them.

Best of luck.

Colin
