Hello,
I've been trying to dig around the internet to find some groups who do either Revolutionary War/American War of Independence or French and Indian War re-enactment in the UK, but all the groups either seem to be:
a) Northern (I live in Wiltshire/near Bath)
b) Not overly accepting of families
c) Not that friendly...
Am I missing something or is it a really badly catered for period?

Speaking of the Lexington, there's a training weekend on 12th/13th October at Avoncroft Open Air Museum (Bromsgrove). There's a bunch of Rev War groups going and it's open to the public during the day if you want to pop over and say hello.

You can always contact NFOE for french Indian War period. They have members dotted around various parts of the UK, and are very friendly. I've been with them for the past three years and have done some great little events. They do not do as many events per annum as some other societies, but what they do are very high quality.

Also the Revs. War period is small in this country, but at the moment it is growing, there have been 2 new groups set up in the last 2 year,ea they do tend to be midlands based as well, although some have members in your direction. The groups that I know of are:
Loyalist
22nd of foot based the chester area
47th of foot based around derby area
17th foot based around Liecester, they also have a civilian section
Patriot
Lexington Minutemen- a militia with members all over the country e.g. Cheltenham, Portsmouth, Devon, Leicester, Edinburgh to name a few places.
1st Maryland based in south wales
As someone said above the Lexington are holding a training weekend at Avoncroft on the 12th/13th October, and all the groups above will have members there, so if anyone is interested in seeing what this period is about in this country then this would be a very good opportunity to come along and see us.
