Thanks. Dyeing isn't so far apart from alchemy, and I read up a lot online about the need to control the temperature. So it worked out okay.

Ah hah, that's the wonder of not taking a close up shot. There's a couple of lighter patches, but you don't see them so easily.
I was rather surprised how easy it all was, actually.
I used a slow cooker for the heating, with a thermometer stuck in to monitor temperature, stirred it every ten minutes and that was about it. Oh, and maturing the alum mordant for 3 or 4 days beforehand, and when dyeing kept the temp below 65C.
