Another (nearly) completed outfit!

Big grins I've been working on this outfit for a long time! Based on a pattern from Janet Arnold which I then altered a bit as I decided I didn't like the highneck&collar variety!

I made it to wear in my early dance group, so I could be a lot more flexible with fabrics - hence poly satin sleeves, cotton dress fabric etc. But I aimed for the over all 'look' of Jacobean fashion and I think I was successful! All I need now is a ruff and suitable headwear (plonked my mid 16th century coif on for the pics!) and put some lace around the neckline. I wore it over a boned bodice (not really bodies...), a shift, petticoat, and bumroll.

Steve it is dreadfully middling isn't it! it looked really quite plain before I had made the sleeves, they lift it a bit I think

The actual dress didn't take much to put together, the pattern I used from Janet Arnold was already pretty much in my size so the fitting process didn't take too long. Assembly too was fairly quick (though we are talking in hand sewing terms, mostly just at weekends). What took the longest was applying all the trim! So unfortunately I can't really give you an exact time frame.
