A New Pretender?

Postby Mark P. » Fri Nov 30, 2007 11:26 pm

Anyone watch 'Britain's Real Monarch' on Channel 4 on Thursday?
Well I happened to notice that the Plantagenate Family line ran through the Hastings family.

I especially noticed,

# Ferdinando Hastings, 6th Earl of Huntingdon, oldest son of Henry.
-1608 to 1656
# Theophilus Hastings, 7th Earl of Huntingdon, only son of Ferdinando.
-1650 to 1701

And the only reason I found it interesting was that the 13th Foot was raised in 1685 by Theophilus Hastings, 7th Earl of Huntingdon.

So now we get to be a Royal Regiment with our own King!

Real royals

I have to say I agreed with Tony Robinson, the "true " king looks a lot happier than our present Royals.
He even voted for Australia to be republican, whilst being well aware of his plantagenet roots.
Was I the only one who chuckled when, instead of incredulity or an uncultured response of some sort, the gentleman in question produced a beautifully illuminated copy of his family tree to compare notes...truly regal, and done with such subtlety!
If you now fight for his family, more power to your elbow, but please don't rise up and reinstate them, he is better off where he is.
( I will remain secretly loyal meself)

What was this program called, it sounds interesting and I'd like to have a look :)

Not sure, just happy to hear that it's not another idea by 'HRH Prince Michael of Albany' to stretch credulity further.

Y'need a change of blood now and again and the odd b'stard to re-invigourate royal line, stop the chins receeding and them all bleeding to death every time they take a knock, 'sides the last true King of England died after Hastings, since then they have ALL been usurpers, pretenders and charlatans :P

Anyone claim decent from Æthelstan yet? England and Scotland and Wales too(REX TOT BRIT).

That's my score to date. Three. I haven't killed anybody for years, and don't intend to ever again.'
