Minden 2007
Following on from the Fulda thread this event is set to be held on the 9th and 10th of June this year at Fort C in Minden, Germany. I think there will soon be a website available where people can find out more about the event and the battle itself. If all goes well we should be back in 2009 for the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Minden.

Hello!
Here I give you a picture of the Location, called "Fort C" in Minden,
where the event takes place.
The 2007-Event in June is a little "Test" for a planned and much bigger event in 2009.
Then there will be more Civilians, Traders, Musicians etc..
If the Town and Museum of Minden enjoys our "Peformance" in June, there is the possibility
of an big Reenactment.
2007 the Number of Groups ist limited, because the Location "Fort C"
is not the biggest one.
In 2009 the Reenactment takes place at another Location around Minden.
P.S. Sorry for my bad English...

Dear friends,
today I've heard, that "Gardes Francaise" and "Royal Ecossais" wants to come with alltogether 30 or more Persons!
They want to build a combined Peloton of french Infantry.

Und kommt der große Friederich und klopft sich auf die Hosen...dann rennt die ganze Reichsarmee, Panduren und Franzosen!
Now if only you can convince them to ride horses we will be able to do a much better battle of Minden.

Mr. Francois Casanova from "Royal Ecossais" told me, that in France there are two different groups of this Regiment.
Monsieur Menguy is in the other one.
To him I tried to get in contact again and again...still no answer.
So I think I'll try it for Minden 2009 again.

Minden 2009
Last Friday I've had an interesting Meeting in Minden with the "Townmarketing".
They are planning some Events round the 250th Anniversary with the headline "German French British Friendship", including Concerts, Diskussiongroups, Museumevents etc., etc.
At first they won't have a Reenactment (typical german: "We want to remember the Battle, but please without the Battle!")
I've told them that it makes no Sense to celebrate the Anniversary without a Living History-Encampment/Display/Reenactment.
OK, what do you think, how many GOOD Living History Groups are there in France and GB who portrays french and/or british Military?
Are there in GB any Museums, maybe Regimental Museums of those Regiments who fought at Minden?
If YES, I need some adresses to ask them if thereis any interess to colaborate with the Preussenmuseum and the Townmuseum of Minden
(in these Museum there is an nice Diorama and some Artefacts of the Battle)
I know its many Time to 2009, but "Preparation is Everthing" as we say in German.

Dear Udo,
I hope you are well, and thanks for the copies of 'Y.'
I have a suggestion for the battlefield reenactment part. There is a road junction near Netzeband (the garden centre) on country roads which gives quite a good impression of the British and Hanoverian line and also of a likely direction of the French cavalry charges.
It gives a good impression of being in the countryside, yet is easily accessible.
Please bear with me as I'll need a little time to provide you a precise location. I'll get back to you.
Regards,
Ewan
