The return of Wayland.

I thought I would introduce myself here as this is the Forum I will probably be posting in most of all.

My real name is Gary although most people know me as "Wayland" these days.

I've been knocking around living history circles, in various periods for a number of years although I've had my head down for the last decade or so concentrating on my education work.

My favourite era has always been the so called "Dark Ages" particularly the "Viking" period. ( I know the terms are out dated but people still tend to know what they mean.)

Having got to the point where the business can't really get much busier, I've decided it's time to get back into doing some events just for fun.

I'll probably drop back into the Vike as they seem to have more stuff happening at my end of the country.

Of course, ten years is a long time and I expect authenticity standards will have increased in that time so I look forward to the challenge of bringing my kit up to current spec.

Anyway, that's me in the picture above, anyone that knows me I would be happy to hear from you again and I hope my fading grey cells can be helpful from time to time on this board.

Debs and I will look forward to meeting you there. Image We'll be in the Living history exhibit, look out for the banner with my Avatar on it.

I haven't had my membership package through yet so I'm a bit short on information. Not on Vmail or FB yet. I'm presuming it's in the Abbey grounds like it used to be. I was there many years ago when we were hit by a gale. One of only two occasions where I've seen a Viking framed tent in full flight. ( Not mine I'm relieved to say.)

It looks like the public event is down to start on Saturday but are we able to arrive and set up on the Friday?
