The Fingal Living History Society would like to announce:
Bunratty Viking festival 2008
This is a Viking event (time period 795 - 1100), and will take place on June 28th and 29th.
General information for anyone who has not been to this venue before:
Bunratty Castle, Co. Clare, is approx a two and a half hour drive from either Dublin or Wexford, and 8 miles from Limerick City. The venue is a folk park, complete with watermill, cottages, animals, and facilities on site include two coffee shops, two restaurants and a small pub called Mac’s bar. Close to the front entrance outside there is a large pub, restaurant and shop.
For this event there will be camping on site from Thursday the 26th until Monday the 30th, but everyone must be off site by 4pm on the Monday. There are toilet blocks in the folk park, and there will be porta-loos and…best of all…a porta-shower….at the campsite.
Vehicles are allowed on site in the evening but during the day they must be parked in the car park beside Mac's bar by 9am sharp. This is only a 100 yards from site and is secure, with CCTV.
The running order for the event is of course not finalised yet but the site will open to the public at 11.00am. The first battle each day will be at 12.00 noon, the second at 4.00pm and the show finishes at 5.00pm.
There will be several traders present, a full list and details to follow if any one would like more info they can contact me on:
Talk to you all soon
