Roman Trumpet Brooches

Post by sally »

Need a supplier of cost effective, cast Roman trumpet brooches. I know of several suppliers who do very good ones at about £30 a shot, but this is to go in a kids educational handling activity where unfortunately the little darlings do tend to wander off with things, so I need to strike a balance between acceptability for saying 'this is what a Roman brooch would have looked like' and cost as I need to buy about 4 to replenish over the next year.
Anyone got any really cost effective suppliers tucked up their sleeves?
Forged bronze brooches I can do, its the cast ones that are flummoxing me at the mo! I can sacrifice a smidge of perfection for cost in this case, as they don't need to stand up to wear in re-enactment use, just light handling as part of an assemblage of immediately identifiable 'Roman' items, so as long as they 'look' right, that'll do fine.
