Passamezzo present their new programme" Old Christmas Returned - music, words and song for Christmas".
The festive programme of music, words and song, takes the audience on a journey from Advent, through the Christmas season to its traditional end at Candlemas, and tells the story of how Christmas was celebrated, banned, and restored again in 17th Century England.
The costumed ensemble play on period instruments, including Renaissance violin, lute, viols, recorders and voices. Their programme includes beautiful sacred pieces, dance tunes, and lively ballads telling of the traditions and capers that accompanied the festive period.
