Music which reflects the past?

Postby British » Wed Sep 21, 2011 6:42 pm

Hi, re-enactors, and history enthusiasts. I have been a way for quite some time, but my love of history has never been far. So, sorry to barge in.
I'm wondering, I am going through iTunes and can't seem to find what I am after.
What I want is music that reflects the past in this land. I have plenty from the Tudor times, but would love to have some that would reflect the mood of the Saxons or Vikings. Maybe the Normans. Anyone have any requests?
Thank you in advance.

I'd give a thunbs up for Mr and Mrs Busy Mole. I have got to the point where I now need to start avoiding them because I know that I will always end up with something magical that I have not heard yet.

Try the British Library - although this is a list of printed music so from 1400ish only:
