For Sale - 17th Century skirt. Suitable for the english civil war period.
Waist 34 inches or 86 1/2 cms (can be adjusted see description)
Length 39 1/2 inches or 100 1/2 cms ( top of waistband to hem)
The hem has 1 3/4 inches or 4 1/2 cms total turn up, so it could be lengthened slightly by altering the hem.
This is made from a russet wool, purchased from traders, it looks and feels like wool but I cannot guarantee it is 100% wool.
The skirt was made by myself for myself but I don't think I have ever worn it.
There is a lot fabric in this skirt, as it has been made from 3 widths of 60 inch wide fabric. The front section has no gathers so the skirt sits neatly at the front and then the gathers run away from the front to the back.
Hidden within the front seams are two gaps that are hand sized allowing the wearer access to articles of value hanging from the waist, eg purse. Also a good place to pop your hands and keep them warm.
The seams of the skirt are machine stitched but this has been hidden, by the seam allowances being hand stitched down, to give a historical and quality finish.
The skirt has a deep waistband which has been hand top stitched down.
The hem is hand stitched.
The skirt is fastened by the means of linen ties and hand stitched eyelets. One of the eyelet holes is not perfect as can be seen in the photograph. The skirt can be adjusted here, as the ties can be moved to reduce or increase the waist size. Very forgiving as they are if you have had a big meal or your weight fluctuates.
Photos to be uploaded but need to be resized.
£20 to include postage, by courier because of weight.
