Scots in the Great War LH Society reenact military and civilian aspects of the Great War 1914-1918. At present, we concentrate mainly on the Lowland Regiments, although we are happy to consider anything that someone might want to portray, naval, miners, shipbuilders, nurses, suffragists, general public etc. as long as it can be justified We are mostly based in Scotland and Northern England, but travel quite widely.
We have been involved in filming with the BBC and other groups and are presently working with Scottish Museums on a "Next of Kin" project throughout Scotland, and with Historic Scotland at a number of their sites.
One other major project has been in association with Glasgow University and battlefield archaeologist Tony Pollard. We have been actively involved in creating a WW1 Trench system in Pollock Park in Glasgow, where the original OTC in Glasgow were trained to dig trenches before going to the front. This will be extended and developed over the next 3 years and will be open to the public at least once a month, (next date 6th March), the idea being to gain practical experience in 'front line' life. Details and photos can be viewed via the 'Digging In' website.
For details of events planned for the coming year, or if you feel the urge to join up or join in, please feel free to contact us on Facebook 'Scots in the Great War Living History Society' , or PM me via this page.
