Re-enactment group in Middlesbrough and surrounding areas.

Postby EG2594 » Tue Dec 09, 2014 4:49 pm

Hi everyone,

I run a re-enactment group based in Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas, we were based within the University but due to lack of interest from University students we've pulled out. We are part of Crusade Re-enactment which means we of course specialise in the Crusades. But also on the 12th century and early 13th. The Nationwide society has done Viking in the past but due to a huge amount of Viking groups we don't do it much due to lack of shows, we do Normans now mainly but also we do 15th Century War of the Roses and the Napoleonic era as the Black Brunswickers (we are predominantly cannon crew) and the War of 1812 as a mix of Native Americans, American Militia and English Naval Crew. And most recently we have just returned from a show that did the Jacobite Rebellion so running around in kilts etc (not a good idea in December!)

Training sessions feature predominantly combat training but it is not all what we are about, we learn about history and are always looking to learn something new about it. We learn the crafts so even if combat isn't your thing, get in contact, maybe you just like the idea of parading round in authentic kit (I do too!)

We attend shows up and down the country, you can join us in battle or remain in camp teaching the kids and grownups alike about history and looking awesome in beautiful kit. We can show you where to get it from or teach you to make it yourself. We are all a friendly bunch of people despite the fact we do fight each other with weapons!!!

We of course provide free kit to lend out until you know you enjoy it and there is plenty of opportunity to try it all. Do feel free to contact me on eddygladders@yahoo.co.uk or 07813171345.

Hello from Hartlepool.

Strange I never knew about you guys before now. Perhaps we should organise the odd joint training session, forge some links.?

Hi my friend,

That sounds great, would love to meet with other societies.
We are a relatively new re-enactment group, a handful of us did some training in the backyard for quite some time, only recently have we really formed ourselves up as a group. I've been with Crusade for about 2 years and the rest of the guys about a year.

Do feel free to drop me an email or join the Facebook group and we can always look into something :)
