looking for Viking - medieval groups in Scotland?

Postby Kairra » Wed May 22, 2013 8:04 pm

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine has been trying to find reenactment groups in Scotland for some time now without luck. I had a Google myself and found a few groups but the websites were a bit out of date so I thought it best to check here. Does anyone know of, or are part of, any groups in Scotland? Medieval is preferred but there is also an interest in Viking/Norman groups :)

Thanks :)

Could you be more specific as to whereabouts in Scotland or does it not matter to your friend? Some on here may know some, but might be better to narrow down the geographical area a bit! :)

For the Edinburgh/Fife area try the Company of St Margaret: http://www.cosm.org.uk/ or PM "Guthrie" through this forum.

whoops, sorry about that, I'd meant to include location in the original post! It's predominantly around Ayrshire, Argyll and Bute but I'll take anything you have that I can take back as information, it may be useful later!

Thanks for the replies so far :)

Hi. There are many groups in the wider ayrshire area (although not so sure about argyll). Some that spring to mind are Carrick 800 (girvan), Swords of Dalriada (Kilmarnock) and Glasgow Vikings as previously mentioned. Most of the Scottish groups have members distributed throughout the country. There are too many to list but some of the medieval groups include Medieval Realm, Nothern Alliance, company of St Margaret, Historic Saltire and Beowulf. Many to choose from! :)
