Wiltshire (Trowbridge)

Postby SpudUk » Tue May 21, 2013 3:40 pm

Hello all,

I have flirted with a good many periods in my time, WWII, Viking, AWI, but now I am looking for a new challenge. I am an ECW re-enactor with the Sealed Knot and have been since I was about 12, but will only attend certain events in the year, and want something to fill the void. I love going bang in the SK, but I am keen to find something more physical in my new venture. Having often struggled to see the interest in the period before, I am now particularly interested in medieval (thanks to George RR Martin). I am also really into armour and swords, so I think the medieval period would suit me well. I also enjoy the training side, so any groups who regular train would be brilliant.

So, come and get me!

If you want armour you are looking at later medieval. However sword is not and has never been a primary weapon. Your best bet is to contact either one of the War of the Roses Federation (WOTRF) or Medieval Siege Society (MSS) groups near you (sorry if I've msised any groups off). Before you do it's worth working out what you can afford. I'd suggest you put a post in Friends and Gossip and ask questions there or in one of the specific era areas.

Thanks Tod, I've got in touch with MSS.

Appreciate it's not all swords, was being vague and stereotypical!

I'm in Swindon with the Woodville Household (which is part of the WOTR fed).
Game of Thrones, despite what people may say, has little in common with the WOTR.

Hi SpudUK,

I am a few miles away from Trowbridge in the village of Atworth although my group, the Company of Chivalry, are more Somerset based.

We're having ongoing issues with our website but we do have a Wiki entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Company_of_Chivalry

and my blog should give some idea of what we do:
