EARLY DANCE CIRCLE 1450-1950

Postby Cesarenegri » Tue Jan 24, 2012 11:49 am

THE EARLY DANCE CIRCLE, the EDC, is an umbrella organisation dedicated to promoting the enjoyment, performance and study of Early Dance in the UK and beyond.
We sponsor:
 Special Events
 An Annual EDC Festival of Historical Dance
 An Annual Lecture
 A Directory of Regular Classes in the UK and abroad
 Publications & Circulars
 Education & Research
Our members enjoy recreating the dances of court & country house, tavern & theatre from across Western Europe, based on detailed descriptions in original sources. An interest in historical dance opens doors to the styles of the great dancing masters of England, Italy, France & Spain. It also sparks a wider appreciation of the music, costume and food of various periods.

I'd love to help to put on a dance festival that dealt with the history of square dancing from its earliest form to the modern (Western) version, including Caribbean quadrille, Irish set dancing, running set and the Lancers.
