Victoriana

Postby de Coverley » Sat Dec 06, 2014 10:29 am

I have an invitation to a ball abroad, with specialist period dances. I have the 17c outfit needed and the 18c outfit but need something for a man that's 1840 to 1890, complete and correct to the social level of "white tie" now, complete with shoes for dancing the dances of the era -the whole point of the event.

Who would like to offer wisdom or contacts for understanding the costume and obtaining one (possibly with two shirts).

If you make good men's Victorian outfits then feel free to contact me please.

Oh de coverley, what a wonderful time you are going to have.

Luckily it is still possible to buy Victorian men's outfits in the shops. Why even I have some in 'historical haberdashery', so you should find most of your accessories in vintage clothes shops if you hunt around. Jackets and trousers will be the most difficult part. Isn't there a shop called Gentleman's Emporium that does such things off the peg?
