German square tailed sallet?

Postby Ceri Mullins » Fri Sep 20, 2013 10:57 am

I bought this sallet cheap from the Knight Shop.
I didn't realise it was unfinished so I have been trying to do it all myself.
Can anyone help me identify its real name or a history for this shaped tail, it must have one even if only a short paragraph somewhere?

Hm, I can't seem to paste a picture in here but it is all one piece with a long wide one piece tail protecting the neck, I can always send a pic you you think you recognise it?

Unfinished? In what way? Sounds like one of the late 15th/early 16th rennen sallets. Its used in some very specific jousting styles.

Send me a pic by all means. mark@griffinhistorical.com

http://www.griffinhistorical.com. A delicious decadent historical trifle. Thick performance jelly topped with lashings of imaginative creamy custard. You may also get a soggy event management sponge finger but it won't cost you hundreds and thousands.
