As another celebration of the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne of England the Medieval Dress and Textile Society (MEDATS) is holding a one day seminar entitled "Henry VIII: the Clothing and Textiles of a Renaissance Monarch?" on Saturday 2nd May 2009.

This event is open to all interested parties.

The speakers are:
Dr Maria Hayward (University of Southampton) Clothing and Textiles of King Henry VIII
Santina M. Levey (Independent historian and formerly of the Victoria and Albert Museum) Fine Wrought Linen at the Court of Henry VIII
Dr Johannes Pietsch (Abegg-Stiftung, Switzerland) Men’s Gowns in the 16th century: From Fashionable to Ceremonial Dress
Lisa Monnas (Independent historian) The Vestments of Henry VIII
Dr David Mitchell (Institute of Historical Research, University of London.) Napery and Table Linen in England from 1450
Prof. Cinzia Sicca (University of Pisa) Florentine textiles for the king and fabrics for the Field of Cloth of Gold

I've moved this to the costume area but left a 'shadow' of it in Events, as I'd missed this & I think costume people are more likely to spot it here!
