Modifying a Regency military coat pattern for civilian wear?

Postby sally » Wed Sep 17, 2008 11:06 am

Got to tackle Gareth's coat for the Regency ball this week- I've not managed to find a proper coat pattern so have borrowed a pattern for a Dragoon uniform to take the basic shapes from (this pattern http://rockinghorse-farm.com/store/larg ... iform.html) , but now need to alter bits to make it suitable for civilian ballroom wear.

Its going to be in navy fine wool, looking at this site for broad inspiration, http://www.songsmyth.com/menday.html if I alter the neckline and give it longer tails, will we pass muster, or are there other major elements I havent spotted?
