From trousers to hose

Postby Savernake » Wed Sep 06, 2017 9:36 pm

Hello,

Its my (limited) understanding that the Anglo-Saxons wore trousers of a sort. Later in the middle ages people wore first short hose, then long separate hose, and finally joined hose. Although joined hose were surely tighter fitting than Anglo-Saxon trousers, leg covering seem to have come full circle back to something very similar to an earlier time.

Does anyone know why this was? Was it just fashion?
