Isn't Hatfield now cancelled? I had heard so but it's still mentioned on the Eventplan website, along with some surprising (to me, anyway) news about a change of management.

Yes EventPlan has new management as Howard has retired but will be still seen around playing rather than managing.

For you info about Hatfield, We had put it on our Facebook page.

It’s with great regret that we have to announce that the Hatfield House Centenary Tanks & Tommies Event (10th & 11th September 2016) will no longer be taking place.

Cancelling an event is never an easy decision to have to make, nor an easy outcome to hear for everyone involved.

Events of this nature are often very high risk, both on a safety and business footing, all aspects must be carefully considered and all risks assessed appropriately.

Unfortunately sometimes these aspects and risks cannot be overcome or resolved and cancellations occur.

The event was set to be a highly anticipated WW1 event in the 2016 living history calendar, combining some of the very best in the re-enactment, interpretation, military vehicle, and historian circles; the response for participant attendance has been amazing with some of the most premier people in our industry wanting to join together to mark this Centenary.

With an event containing the level, size, and types, of displays attending; we understand that levels of interest need to be of their highest to make sure the event is fully appreciated; and though other options and possibilities were offered and considered, it was agreed that they would not create the outcome necessary to resolve the situation.

We at EventPlan are greatly saddened by this decision as, we are sure, are the participants who were planning to attend with their displays; we'd like to thank every single person who has shown interest and support to this event over the past 12 months of planning.

Our thanks also go to Hatfield House for the chance to try and hold an event of this nature, and for choosing EventPlan to help organise it.

We wish Hatfield all the very best with the rest of their Centenary commemorative exhibitions.

From Hatfield:
"Circumstances out of our control have caused us to review the planned event and take the difficult decision to cancel it with as much notice as possible.

We would like to thank Event Plan for all their work in creating this event along with all those who have shown an interest in it. Cancelling an event is never an easy decision to have to make and we appreciate the understanding of all those involved.

The diary at Hatfield House is still packed with lots of other fabulous events this season, please take a look at our ‘What’s on’ page for more details.

Thank you."

Some of us have been involved in this project since February which as meant that on four occasions turning down bookings because they would clash with our commitment to Hatfield. At this short notice its too late to look for a replacement booking.

Cancellation as a significant financial cost in outlay on items for this event that are of no use elsewhere, for instance film licenses to screen the movies that we were asked to show.In fact all we have to show for it is a considerable amount of debt.

Thanks. Good to know that Howard will still be about, so we might bump into him from time to time.
Thanks for the C&P of the message - I don't use Facebook at all and so didn't see it there.
