Foreign Volunteers of the Wehrmacht 1941-45

Postby Marcus Woodhouse » Tue Jun 16, 2015 9:06 pm

By Carlos Jurado and illustrations by Kevin Lyles. Osprey publications 1983.ISBN 0-85045-524-3.
Given the Nazi ideals regarding slave and other ethnic groups I was surprised at just how many non Germanic volunteers served in the German armed forces during the Second World War. The uniforms are odd mixtures of regular and obsolete German equipment, Soviet, French and Italian with the occasional flourish of traditional costume in some Cossack units. The Free Indian and Free Arab legion units were complete news to me.

If you're genuinely interested in this subject then the books by Antonio J Munoz are a must.
