Renissance War Galley 1470-1590

Angus Konstam with illustrations by Tony Bryan. Osprey Publishing House (New Vanguard series). ISBN 978-1-84176-443-6. First published in 2002.
Like any Osprey book, you know pretty much what to expect. I was expecting more on the war galley as used in the 15th century, mostly it is about those from the mid 16th century (and all the illustrations are from that time frame bar one circa 1500). I wanted to find out more about the Venetian fleets as this was the best documented and felt let down. I'll need to look for something more specialised.

Do they include a picture of Nicolas Gombert behind the oars?

I can't imagine the names of many other galley crew have come down to us.

Celebrity-Renaissance-kiddy-fiddler would be an interesting persona to take on...
