Roman Shields

Post by Lady Willows Retinue »

Our new book, Roman Shields was released on 19/07/14 (Amberley). It covers the origins of the diffferent types of shield, their historical developmental progression in shape and function (from Bronze age to Late Roman periods); as well as their construction and combat use.
This is the second of a set of three (Roman Body Armour has been out for some time; and the third part, Roman Helmets, is due for release in December 2014, in time for Christmas):

Roman Body Armour (http://www.amberleybooks.com/shop/artic ... rmour.html)

Roman Helmets, due for release December 2014 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roman-Helmets-J ... 1445638428)

Looks good. I've just finished reading a series of books about Boudica which have got me interested in the tactics used by the Roman soldiers.
