A prolonged period of insomnia and a spell in hospital looking after my son has meant I have been able to plough my way through some books I've had for a while. This continues my interest in late medieval Italy with a history of the life and times of "Sir" John Hawkwood who spent 30 years basically holding northern Italy and the Papacy to ransom. It also explores Hawkwood's clandestine links with Edward III and the connection between he and Chaucer.
Anything with a vague historical bent
