La Messe de Nostre Dame and songs from Le Voir Dit

Guillaume De Machaut performed by the Oxford Camerata conducted by Jermey Summerley. 1996 Naxos records.
Mauchaut is one of the kost important compasers (not that he would have known what one of theose was) of ther entire middle ages and I think is the most exciting of the 14th century for sure. What is really intersting about this performeance is the effort the sound editors and artists put into trying to recreate the original sound of where this would have been perforemed, which only underscores how artifical our own listening of the work is.
