Beautiful, both the work and the horses!!

Have you thought of taking a stand at any of the big horse shows to sell your work? Its easily as good if not better than what I've seen selling at Hickstead. Or see if you can find someone already selling at the shows to sell on your behalf, cos Im sure you travel enough as it is!

And the added bonus is that if they are at a show you already know they're interested in horses...... sort of a captive audience!!

Absolutely stunning....

As for selling them, I was at the British indoor showjumping champs at the NEC earlier in the year, and someone was there selling original work, and prints. A friend I was with must have spent about £50 on 2 (maybe 3?) A5 size prints. They were ridiculously busy, and had a mail order thing going on for when they'd run out. I'd definitely consider similar shows if I were you.

If I can find a decent enough photo of my horse, I'd love a commissioned piece. I found out he'd died not long after I sold him, and it would be a beautiful tribute. Will PM you in due course.

Keep up the good work, and I wish you well in your venture! x

Thanks (again) everyone. I have looked into trading at some horse shows, I looked at the Royal Welsh show (which is famous for it's welsh cobs for those of you who didn't know) The cheapest stand I couldve had in the art/craft area worked out at about £800 so I think I'll have to start off smaller and work my way up. Recently I've been contacting galleries and agents who sell similar artwork and have had no response or interest whatsoever. Not sure what I've been doing wrong! :? Here are some new bits by the way...

If you upload them to photobucket (or similar) then you can post them on here with a much better resolution and you wont need to worry about file size :D

So gorgeous!

You can upload stacks of pics, and all you need to do in order to post one on here is highlight the IMG code they give you under each picture (so you don't need to worry about doing ANYTHING with the 'Img' tag on this forum)

Strider if your new to selling your work then ideally you need to join some local art societies that have exhibitions.

All the work (unless it's portfolio) will need to be framed properly - this is easy so you can do it yourself.

Pricing has to be reasonable - minimum cost guidelines are three times the cost of the frame.

Then the other ones to join are people like the SEA - Society of Equestrian Artists, SWA - Society of Women Artists....there's quite a few more.

Galleries may not take you up until you have a proven track record - and for that your work needs to be seen...lots. Galleries also charge around 50 per cent commission where as art societies and the like will normally charge no more than 25 per cent plus a nominal hanging fee.
