New Anglo Saxon scabbard

Postby Medicus Matt » Sun Dec 30, 2012 8:16 pm

Just sharing this as I'm rather pleased with the way it's turned out.
Poplar core, cord work (in the most common 'Tiw' pattern), oak tanned leather (which should please Mr Griffin).
Pyramids and foils (based on one of the foil fragments from the Staffordshire Hoard) by Dave Roper.

The suspension system proves a theory. The pyramids themselves aren't load bearing but they do conceal the actual suspension method. The scabbard can be removed from the belt.

Matt, that is disgustingly beautiful you filthy purveyor of leather porn! :D

I was quite proud of the scabbard that I'm making of one of our guys at the moment, until I saw that. Now I'm just ashamed!

Best wishes

Colin
