Just completed a couple of fun little projects, for display on my 'Wonderful Wall of Death'. As such, they are non-firing, made of wood and steel where appropriate.
Firstly, there is a pole handgonne, with a beech octagonal stock. It is a scaled-up version of an original one (see below) and is 24" from (dummy) touch-hole to the muzzle. I want to get one of these made up for real on my shotgun ticket, so I wanted to see what it would look like first. The 'barrel' has a 13mm bore. It is about four and a half feet long overall and pretty hefty, despite its slender looks, yet very well balanced.
I've made a little 'hot wire' for setting off the charge, with a pear wood handle.

Re: Handgonnes
The second one is a dinky little Hackbut, with a fearsome steel hook on it. The 'barrel' is 12" long and around 17mm bore, banded with steel hoops. The stock is beech. It is a little over two and a half feet long overall, and sits really well either on my shoulder 'crossbow' style, or 'underarm'. And that spike is really nasty, in a practical kind of way.
Just for the fun of it, I've carved a nice little 'serpent' linstock from oak.
If this were live-firing, it would have to go on a firearms ticket.
