2014 is a big year at Salisbury Museum. In June we will be opening the new Wessex Gallery, home to our designated archaeology collections.
The new gallery will be of international importance, telling the story of Salisbury and the surrounding area from prehistoric times to the Norman Conquest.
We will be holding a variety of events at the museum to celebrate.
On Saturday 12th July we will be holding an event at the museum themed on our new gallery to celebrate Festival of British Archaeology 2014.
We are currently curating a variety of living history practitioners to engage with visitors.
Alongside this we wish to create a vibrant, bright and attractive Living History 'fair' area.
The museum is set in a medieval building within the Cathedral Close of Salisbury, yards from the cathedral. A bright and enticing Living History trading presence will attract both local visitors and much passing interest from the busy tourist route which flows between Stonehenge and the cathedral.
We will be carefully curating the 'fair' to keep to the themes of the new gallery, and create an appropriate visual impact for the event within this historic setting.
If you are interested in trading at the event, please contact Owain Hughes, Learning Project Officer at Salisbury Museum to be considered for selection.
All successful applicants will receive booking confirmation and event details. Due to the constraints of the historic site, no traders will be accepted on the day.
