Three more trading events for this year

Postby Pete the Pong » Mon Mar 13, 2006 5:42 pm

I've been notified of three more possible trading venues for this year!
Firstly, its short notice but over 13/14 May theres a new event near Newmarket,Suffolk. This is a medaeval event, and apparently the MSS are booked. They want AUTHENTIC TRADERS ONLY, but if you fit that category, then its a free pitch. Contact Sharon (01638 730 180), if you can't get through, then email or pm me -I'm nothing to do with the organisation -but I will pass on messages.
Secondly Adams’ Grammar School NEWPORT Shropshire are running an event to celebrate their 350th anniversary over Sundy 28th and Monday 29th of May. The ECWS are involved, but they want a variety of traders, apparently over a wider time period. The events co-ordinatory is Sarah Peaceful, email sarah.peaceful@adamsgs.org.uk , tel: 01952 822495 and the ECWS contact who I think is in charge of the market is Brigid Cattle, email brigid.Cattle@normanhay.com tel 01952 691567. If you are interested in this one I'd advise checking on the overnight sleeping arrangements etc.
Thirdly, the Cinque port of Sandwich in Kent will be holding a mediaeval festival on Friday 25th to Sunday 27th August 2006. They say that they would welcome the following traders:
Historic traders with authentic tents
Historic traders to be housed in a marquee
Pedlars
Terms are £30 for two days (Saturday and Sunday). Contact soniaoverall@hotmail.com

Yes -I firmly believe in the healing power of herbal remedies.
So much so that I insist on taking at least three or more pints of the Sacred Malted Medicine each and every night.

Late August BH w/e is becoming a tad crowded, plenty of choice for the muddy evil traders!

Sheffield ( if they have the legs of a haggis!)
Detling (if they like mean green machines!)
Herstmonceux (if they like blue and yellow polyester!)
Sandwich - well, why not give it a go?

I've never been to Sandwich, this might be just the excuse for a visit.

I'll admit that I crindge every time I see the blue and yellow nylon being ridden out...
The one big crimp on Herstmonseux...

The rest is really good fun, and there are some great traders there... ie you lot!

This ones at the wonderfully named village of "Snailswell". The organiser is very enthusiastic, and although it's an unknown quantity, it's free to "authentic" traders, so IMHO as it's a new area, there's not much to lose and everything to gain as I for one have nothing else booked for that weekend.

Gabbie,
My impression is that she is trying to avoid having any "plastic" tents, so IMHO I'd say, yes you would be fine. After all, we sell our incense packaged in plastic bags, which is not exactly "orfentik". Give her a ring and say that I've personally OK'd you!!!!!!

Love

Pete

Having spoken to her myself yesterday, I'm happy to say that I'm going to give this a try - with no pitch fee and only fuel costs to think about, I can hardly lose. There's not much else going on in the middle weekends of May, so any opportunity is welcome.

Trust your instincts, whatever else you do.
