Trader food at York King's Manor & Lincoln

Post by LadyL »

Hi guys,

Just a quick note to try to establish whether you will want some form of breakfast on each of these shows before the main market opening time?

It would be a basic offering - Viking Porridge / breakfast rolls (bacon, egg, sausage). We'd have to stop service by 9.30 am so we are all ready for the opening of the market.

Cheers,

YES from me, and thats YES from Suzie and YES from Rob, oh and YES from Suzie again :D , also could I make a small suggestion ? we've traded there for the last 3 years and its manic as foo, its almost impossible to get away from the stall sometimes, could you do some sort of "side queue" area or order slips for traders i.e Trader X pops over and slips to the front of the queue, passes the slip to the person taking orders and maybe either we pop back for it or it gets popped over cos queueing would be a real problem for some traders, just a thought :)

Martin - Yes. We have that in hand. We have F.O. H. staff who will act as "runners" to take food orders also from traders. (I think we have 15 staff so far for this event).

Martin - re Fire Poi, etc. I have that sorted now. One of my staff is going to do it - he's getting his insurance sorted this week via Equity. We haven't reached an agreement on pay for this yet, however! Is there any chance we could get a whip round for a couple of quid from each trader for him to do it? Obviously he's being paid by the Giddy Kipper, but this is extra to his standard contract with us.

Dave - We (The Giddy Kipper) are proposing to do a mini trader banquet on the Sunday evening on site, free of charge, for those who are staying over. Just have to confirm it with Chaz. We'll have covered seated area in place still from the market. Not sure if we can utilise fire pits though. I guess thermals, candles & warm fleeces!

Cheers,
Rachael

check with Chas re fire poi :) , there was the chance of a night on horseback and man at arms for b**ger all lol but unfortunatly all the risk assesments / paperwork has gone in so its to late (but maybe for next year) . I agree it would look good and if it can be done in such a way as to attrct punters in then all the better :P
