Postal Strike

We are now finding our deliveries being delayed and a pain. The postal service was going down hill for a while but the strike now is making getting deliveries very difficult. Have been looking at the thread about alternatives. will now be looking very seriously

Have actually had customers asking us not to post things they would rather wait two or three weeks untill we are at ane event near them because the post is so wayward!

I have now heard that the strikes will affect local post offices so that they will not get deliveries of stamps etc so they will have to shut? Will this affect pensioners?

The service with Royal Mail used to be second to none, now I do not trust it at all, it is small wonder they are losing trade.

Sorry irritable rant!

I'm waiting for a delivery - not helped by the company I ordered from using a 48 hour service instead of a 24 one as I asked & paid for - and waited in all day for only to be told when I rang yesterday asking if they had actually sent it! So here I am waiting in again!

There has to be a better system than this!

I'm waiting for a wedding gift for my son (Wedding on Sunday) that Scorch sent in plenty of time, which she kindly rushed for me. She was wonderfully helpful - the Post Office has c*cked up, and both she and I are upset and angry.

Personally, I am sick and tired of being effectively held to ransom by a bunch of overpaid *********! Held to ransom because there are precious few cost effective alternatives - and they know it. They fell along way short of effective before these strikes kicked off.

Currently, they refuse to guarantee anything posted special delivery into or out of scotland - they'll let you pay for the service though!

I would dearly love to know how they come up with their statistical 0.5% [or whatever they say it is] figure for lost mail. Do they count each item in and out again? I seriously doubt it.

And on the subject of the remarkably small amount of mail lost - this week, it is running close to 35% for us! Last week, they managed to return an international item to the vendor having not even attempted to deliver it to us! Their explanation at the local sorting office was that it had an incomplete address. So how did they know it was mine then? Then they tried to deliver another international parcel to me, that wasn't addressed to me and didn't have my post code. We found the correct address through the royal mail post code finder on their website.

This week, they've failed to deliver 2 parcels from us - one special delivery, the other 1st class recorded.

If you check tracking on the website, they give you a phone no. When you try to check up by phone you're referred back to their website, but the call with automated voice will last aprox 12 mins - at your expense. If you want to send customer services an email re: lost mail, it will not allow you to do so until it's been missing for 15 days.

I couldn't agree more. The last four parcels sent to me have been returned to the sorting office, fine but they didn't tell me that. I just went there on the off chance that they might have an idea where they were.
Then there was the parcel I sent to Eire that they sent trouind the world by interantional mail.
I could go on.
The sun comes out the Post Office goes on strike.

We had a parcel delivered to us last week by Parcel Force. I tracked the number on the card online says it was delivered, except we were on holiday. Rang them up, definately delivered they said, not to us said me. Delivery driver is on holiday for 2 weeks and no one knows where he delivered it, asked all the neighbours they dont have it. So we now have to wait until he comes back off his holidays. For God's sake dont they have some kind of system, moron on the phone was not in the slightest bit bothered :evil:

i am a customer of busy mole and my Psaltery got caught up in the whole postal strike thing!

it did eventually arrive and i was out when it was delivered. i live about 2 mins from the sorting office so went down there a good 4 hours after the time the card said and was told the delivery guy wasnt back yet and to come back later.

not wanting to be dissapointed i called the office to check it had arrived only to costantly get a bt 1571 answer machine.

i did eventually get the parcel and everything was fine - i would have expected royal mail to be a little more apologetic about it all though . its funny how they seem to deliver all our parcels and mail from work daily !!

I have an account with interlink couriers, fanatastic service, will pick up from home, or you can take it to the depot.
Have different range of services, next day by 10,12,3 - saturday delivery, insurance etc. each delivery is Trackable on their webiste.

We charge £20 including next day by 3 delivery, packaging and insurance,
this rate is up to 10kg.

Their prices are excellent as well, and in the year i have been using them, every package has been delivered. In the 3 months i used post office i 'lost' 5 packages which they never paid out complete amount on. tossers.

Since the beginning of August the Post Office have
Lost a big invoice to a client
Lost a load of course certificates
Smashed a well packaged pot (clearly marked fragile on all 6 box faces - with 2 labels each side +packaged in 4" of bubble pack.
Retruned to me a letter I posted to a client - because some tw*t read the 'from' address :roll:

The customer dis-service line is designed to disuade any complaint, as is the compensation forms.

It costs 5 p per minute to use their 0845 number, and then the various menues & strike announcements kept me on the line for 10 minutes before I spoke to a real person, who didn't give a damn.

My opinion? The Post Office has had its day. Crap service & zero confidence in anything they offer.

And don't get me started on the 18 months of form filling & phone calls to stop them delivering junk mail :evil: :evil:

with me they were late. tried to refuse collections, didn't wait for people to answer doors, were rude on the phone (to people I'd sent stuff to, not me...).


parcel2go have just collected 2 parcels for me today, so will see if their inland is as good as their ineternational.


only send stuff royal mail special delivery now if for work - ebay stuff all gets sent royal mail as it's the most economical for little stuff - nothing's gone missing yet, but I always get proof of postage just in case.*

I've used parcels 2 go a few times now tuppence, to send big Ebay items like prams etc and they have always been reliable, collection and delivery when they said and prices are more than reasonable.

As usual, it's "never a good time to go into business"....

As part of my campaign to pay the mortage, I have resorted to painting wargame miniatures.

The nature of todays business is this.... buy unpainted/ badly painted minatures off ebay. Paint them professionally and resell at a profit.

Have now sold my entire stock.

Am still waiting for the 200+ miniatures that I have purchased off ebay to arrive so I can start painting them

Literally, I can do nothing untill the post is back on.
