South West LHF

Post by SteveC »

We went on Saturday. I'm afraid we weren't expecting much and that's really what we got. The organiser posted this on the Facebook page last week
Anyway, this is make or break for the South West Market - I am only prepared to keep this going if there is sufficient support to make it worth while for the traders. So, use it or lose it!
I fear he will probably not be repeating the market in the autumn.
The problem is that there aren't enough traders to make it a 'must go' for us and many of our friends and that that lack of customers means it's a bad weekend for the traders. A real vicious circle.
Can't see anyway out of it. So we will be making the long haul to TORM and back in a couple of weeks.

It's a shame. A you say, a vicious circle.

Thing is, its a bloody popular market.
Saturday was crazy busy for us. Didn't stop till well into the afternoon.
Sunday certainly wasn't too bad either.
We always do very very well there.

There were gaps and some usual suspects were notably absent unfortunately.
All it takes is one or two traders to have a bad weekend and the sprial starts unfortunately.
This leads to one or two gaps and the customers then stop coming.

That's good to hear. It would be really handy to have a good market close to home. We can do TORM and back in a day and will be doing so Saturday week, but it's a haul. ILHF would require stopping over. But unless more traders can be persuaded to have a go (and maybe a better traders list published a bit further in advance) I worry about it.

Latest from Facebook (and I can't find the posting, sorry) is that the riding school at Bridgwater can't accommodate the fair in the autumn, nor next spring.

You are correct.
Fingers crossed for a replacement venue.
