Shrewsbury Borough Council's seal of 1425 shows 3 Arms hanging from the town walls; Royal Arms, Town Arms of 3 Loggerheads, and another, which I describe as, 2 attires of a buck with scalp attached, in pale, overall a cross.' Needless to say there are no colours described. Help needed. I've trawled through my armory for relevant surnames, I've checked Papworth (blazon to name reference book) and have sent to College of Heraldry for help, but have had no reply. I've now painted the flag, our group now has a flag to flutter. I've used the Cross of St George on white with stags attires proper, at the suggestion of the book 'Borough Seals of the Gothic period ' by Gale Pedrick, but am twitching about having it wrong. If anyone has any suggestions or references I would love to hear from you.
