Does anyone know of a good translation of the types of urine that Mediavel doctors used as diagnosis. I can find a couple of images of the colour chart, but I'm having trouble finding what the latin means!
The bloodletting chart would also be handy, if any one knows the where abouts of that as well.

Rubs hands with unashamed glee
A uroscopy chart you mean?

you might need a wound man and bleeding man and astro man as it happens
wound man is 16thc but htey occur earlier
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1 ... =608962792
astro man is a very common motif
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1 ... =608962792
Ideally the components are part of book treatises or charts, the urine chart is a style based on a 14thc one but with a 15thc feel, different use of text etc.
The crudity of style is as the originals.

That's the stuff!
I'm working on a Doctor character, and I'd like to be able to reproduce the little diagnosis charts they carried. The urine chart is one, and the zodiac I know is another. There is one I've seen on bleeding.
Of course, I'd like to know what the different urine types mean... dark urine is meant to show death soon, that I do know...
I've found this one... http://www.library.ucla.edu/libraries/b ... fol8l.html

Well the one in the picture has two levels of description, the colour, because not all urine charts were coloured, and the colours are not really representative but give a general idea, so you have the colour description plus the 'condition'. In th above example it mainly talks about digestion being good and levels of badness, it does mention if you have blue urine you are in deep trouble, so is black with red in it. But the charts are very general in nature and serve more as mnemonics, as do the bleed charts etc.
