Update on bascinet with jousting visor being made by Wasson Artistry in spring steel.
Its based on one in at Leeds from Cobham Church and seems to have had a long life span judging by the various additions and changes made to it so would work 1460-1520's in extremis. Even earlier possibly judging by similar examples elsewhere.
One change we have to make is the addition of a non-period safety catch, this type dont feature any but the chances of the visor being struck under the lip and lifted up are too great to be comfortable so a solution needs to be found. This type features a demi bevor on the front that the visor fits into, seems to be an English style, but thats not enough to prevent the problem.
More anon.

Bascinet update
http://www.griffinhistorical.com. A delicious decadent historical trifle. Thick performance jelly topped with lashings of imaginative creamy custard. You may also get a soggy event management sponge finger but it won't cost you hundreds and thousands.
