Hospitallier Soft Kit

Postby miscreant » Sat Jan 04, 2014 6:15 pm

After some wonderful insight from Brother Ranulf, I put together a Hospitallier soft kit, minus the cloak. After taking his research coupled with mine, this is what I came up with for the early 1200's. I'm pleased with it. I still need type of rope belt to top it off. I'm slowly self teaching myself to sew and I did a pretty good job this time on the sewing and patterning, I think.

Here is my finalized Hospitallier soft kit. Turned out pretty well, I think. I based all this on the very, very few paintings of them from 1200-1260 along with Brother Ranulf's help as mentioned before. The only thing that I think I would change but had no other options at the moment was to go with a brown hat, as the best painting evidence shows brown instead of black. But it is what it is. By the way, I don't think you can tell, but in this picture I am 35 pounds lighter than in the 1st pic. Exercise does that to a guy I guess.

Hands clasped in front and a decent cloak hide a multitude of sins.... :-)

Nice one, looks good!
