Greetings from Grolle

Post by Mrs. Woodrington »

In the weekend of 22, 23 and 24th of october we had a Dutch 80 years war event in Groenlo, in the Netherlands. I was very fortunate in being provided with a pass to take photos on the battlefield. :D me happy...!!
Quite a lot of the Brits came over for this event and took part in this excellent event. And not just them, but groups from Italy, Spain, Hungary, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic and so on. And not to forget the absolutely fantastich Czech cavalry of Nachod!
And for all of you who couldn't join in, here are two albumlinks with my photos of the event:

and of course the battle:

Nice pics- a few faces I recognise too.
I'm now inspired to watch "Alatriste" and cheer for Prince Maurice as the Dutch wipe out the Spanish at the end ;-)

I did Grolle a few years ago and had a wicked time! It rained a lot, but quite enjoyed being dragged over the temporary ramparts by a bunch of nutty Saxony based people and hit with sharps!!!

A few fimiliar faces in those pictures :)
