Thats a black arming cap...light grey whole hose....

It does look distinctly like a hat with a folded up rim, but if you tell me different then I'll take your word for it. The camera, despite what they say, does lie.

But I'm going to query if they're light grey hose.
They appear to be unshaped and have a side seam.
Now, if you tell me that's an unfortunate trick of the camera, I will believe you.
But if it isn't, then when you next replace your hose take some advice on a hose pattern, because you could, quite easily, do much better than that. I'm sure people on here would be thrilled to help.

It's a black arming cap, I'll take a pic later if you really want.

As for the hose, yes they do have a side seam, they were my first attempt at making some hoes to get me through my first season until I could find something better that fittted well and I know they're rubbish, they're now my emergency back up pair. I only had them on as I spilt soup down my braes and split hoes (purchased from your lovely young lady no less) just before I started putting my armour on. I'm in the process of making some more braes and split hoes as we speak so I can finally retire them to the dark recessess of the loft. Or dismantle them and find a way of reusing the cloth.

Ah. It's been a long while since my emergency pair were as hideous as that (but they were once, although for different reasons), but somewhere in the back of the cupboard, they lurk still.

I think there's probably quite a lot of hideous garments lurking in everyone's cupboard, be it re-enactment or "Civvies", but hopefully for me, not much longer!
