Oh wow - that's lovely!!!

And on second viewing, it's hard to tell whether she's just about to let go of his hand...

...which would question the initial interpretation of what she represents....

ohh 'tis good

Well done.

Photographed as such or digitally created? Where are you? I have a few ideas for photos along similar themes.

A very emotive image and one you should be very proud of. Some things are simply greater than the sum of the parts - this is far, far more than just the setting, the people, the clothes and the lighting.

Well done, and be encouraged to produce more.

Hi John,
No, it's all as-is... Real people and all set up... I'm too scared of photoshop... :D More fun doing it the "old way"... Cheers!

BTW I'm near Carmarthen. :D

Eyemo - would you mind if I fiddled with this picture in PSP to see what it would look like a bit misty and ethereal? I just think it would look really good surrounded by the smoke of war sort of thing. I wouldn't pinch it, obviously, just for my own curiosity.

Hi Seimon

Lovely piccie, the only incongruous feature to my unfamiliar eye to the period is the soldier at the front seems to be smiling while the others are all suitably anguished looking due to their injuries. Of course it could put down to his contact with the lady in white :D

They desperate smile I feel comes from that contact...But of course he has no idea who is guiding him...

Thanks!!.. :D

For my part, I think that the smile of the leading soldier makes the image, suggesting hope, or safety at last?

It's a very emotive image.
If you can stand a bit of feedback, the 'angel' has a very modern, straightened hairstyle. In my mind's eye, I can see her as more of an Alphonse Mucha angel, with her hair swept up into a Viccy style.

The front soldier is already dead. That's not a smile of relief, nor is his body language as desperate as it would be if he were grasping a friendly hand in his darkness. It is a beatific smile. That's how I'm seeing it, anyway.

Makes you think, and that's always good.

Perhaps the Angel's modern hairstyle is a link with the present Cat, an indication that we have learned little.

OR

Maybe he's imagining her??? Maybe she's not real at all and the image he has in his head is enough to bring him an element of happiness?? Hence why he's the only one smiling?

"Just love your interpritations on this"

Is that not the definition of art, as opposed to illustrations?

Good article and you looked very pleased.
