Can't say, but was on the blower to his Griffness a minute back, you might spot a svelt floppy green hatted artisan at the place, well, floppy green hatted at least.

It would be nice to see Kit again, last met a couple of years' back.

Don't get too excited, seriously, anti-climaxes are so disappointing and you will be drooling over the horsey hunks I would hope.

Doing both days?

Nar, just the Sunday.

Horsey hunks is what I'm there for! That's why I need Kit... to give a firm 'Lidi!' when appropriate!

(Meg posting - not Rupert - thought I'd better clarify that otherwise this post will worry people!)

I spent a summer travelling with Destrier as they did the EH 'Month of Madness' joust - great fun, it was the long hot summer of 2002 (my second year at uni) and we didn't see home for about 6 weeks. Waking up to Sean-off-the-telly doing his morning press-ups and stretches in just a pair of Historic Enterprises spray-on hose was an education, I can tell you! And (to be fair) some of the other Destrier lads aren't too dusty either :D Ah, that was a good summer.

Lidi - you know muddyevil is the way forward :D

PS I think Rupert and I will be posh-nobbing at the Tower joust too, courtesy of a very kind invitation from the Griffster. See you there! :D

Dear Lidmy

Talking as a joust widow, it's not all it's cracked up to be.

I will be touring with both the medieval and tudor jousts this year and have been picking up the pieces of the medieval knights tournament now for 3 or 4 years (you see it all just begins to merge into one and I can't remember how long!)

Seriously though, they are a great bunch to be with and if you can get over the oil covered cleaning cloths all over the tent, the moans when you spray them with antiseptic and the running back and forth alot because they always forget something MEN   I wouldn't change it for the world.

Looking forward to another 4 jousts and a lot of driving.

UB

This life must be a test, if it were the real thing we'd have been given better instructions.

YAY! Finally! :D Wow so many people!!

Will PM you... have something to show you which may excite you (I hope - it did me!)

going 'on tour' so to speak sounds über cool... perks up one's CV a bit I expect

UB - I've only seen jousting once... perhaps I've over-romanticised the memory, 'praps not, but there's something about the whole arrangement of the joust that thrills me...

and I don't mind lending a hand where needed either

So you hear? If anything is gonna scare me into checking every bush and wall I walk past its little lines like that.

I'm really hoping that one of the jousters will go ill, and they'll say "zac, you're the right size for his harness, you'll have to take his place". I think I may just have to stick with squiring though. At least this year.

Dream on.

I am not sure how much training they do, but I reckon it is a lot < expert evaluation there ;-)

its taken me a good year of joust training and so far I'm no-where near good enough. Give me two more, and I reckon I'll be able to break a lance...

There’s a country in Europe where they treat their ex soldiers with pride no waits for medical treatment after injuries received during service, no amensia from the government. Cant for the life of me recall where it is but I know exactly where it is not.

Hmm, maybe 'Off The Telly' is a triple barrelled surname and you missed out the dashes :?

"almost made me worried at Middlewhich in 05 when we thought he might of drowned"

After he fell off the horse or before?

Tell you what, anyone who has to have any close proximity with Sean or Steve Mallet for example will attest they are very strong chaps. Last year at Kelmarsh, some of us 'lucky' types had to manhandle (no, steady Lidy) Mallet and he was pure dense muscle, scary, Mr G is similarly built, he may have girly hair and a piratical beard, but he can bend iron bars with his earlobes, honest.
