Cannon finish?

Postby Graham Ashford » Sat Aug 09, 2014 8:22 pm

Hello all

I wonder whether or not you might be able to help me at all?

I am trying to find out the treatment used on Naval cannons towards the end of the 18th Century to protect the metal work. They all appear to be ainted, but for the life of me I can't seem to find out what would be considered a good finish for the gun.

Does anyone have any ideas or can you point me in the correct directions?

Kindest regards

Graham
