1700s Furniture

Postby And So To Bed » Wed Nov 12, 2008 9:53 pm

Does anyone know where in the UK or EU to buy furniture and boxes suitable for late C17th to early C18th? There's something of a jump from Tudor and Elizabethan to mid-18th century makers, and the bit inbetween seems to have been left out.

At some point I really want to find a source for repro English, French or Dutch furniture and furnishings of c1650-1720 (ie Ham House, Het Loo, the Wren side of Hampton Court, etc).

Thanks for reading!

You could do worse than talking to History in the Making

Sorry for delay in replying - been offline thanks to dear old BT.

History In The Making? I didn't realise they go that late. Wish I'd thought about it before TORM

This is the sort of stuff I'm looking for. Er, maybe not quite as grand as Ham House, but it's more decorative than earlier 17th century furnishings.

I don't know if he does off-the-peg, but he certainly used to make just about anything if you asked nicely enough.
