i have just come across a new york handy guide from 1943

i was wondering about selling it but know nothing about its value or where to start i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction

You could see if any similar guidebooks are listed on abe.com, or on ebay, that might give you a starting point as to the relative rarity of the item. Do a broad Google search also on guidebooks from that region and see if anything helpful pops up. The more you know about the item teh easier it is to make a convincing sales pitch!
