World War 2 Photo? - Can anyone help?

Post by Rowanoak »

Hi Everyone,

I found this photo of my grandfather a while ago and I've always wondered about the uniform he's wearing. I thought it might be home guard as I don't think he fought in the 2nd World War. Just wondering if anyone would know what it is or where I can find out some info about it.

Many Thanks
Lynda :)

That's '22 pattern uniform with an 03 pattern ammo bandolier.
The uniform was worn upto and after the introduction of the '37 pattern uniform.
In fact there were a lot of troops on the retreat to Dunkirk that were still wearing '22 pattern uniform.
It was a real mix and match. '22 pattern uniform with '08 or '37 pattern webbing and '37 pattern uniform with '08 or '37 pattern webbing.

Regards
Steve
